Have you ever looked at your own reflection in the mirror and had an existential crisis? You feel as if your mind is detached from your body as you are observing yourself from a third-person perspective and wondering: “how can this strangely unfamiliar person be me?”
I drew the inspiration for my self-portrait series from this common but freaky experience. In each photo, the unexpected difference between the reflection in the mirror and the subject reveals the discrepancy between how I view myself and how others might view me. The difference may also suggest different aspects of my identity and personality. I created this series to capture those peculiar moments when I am left alone to be with myself and have to really think about who I am. I hope my audience can relate to my experience through my self-portrait series: Dissociative Associations.
